Obituary
Bobby "Bob" Lavon
Davis, 98, of Springfield, MO went to his eternal home on Thursday, May 2,
2024. He was born on Monday, February 1, 1926 in Springfield, MO to Pearl
Starnes and Frank Davis.
In his 98 years Bob lived a
wonderful life surrounded by many loved ones, family and friends.
Bob's pride and joy was his
73-year marriage to the love of his life Sparkie and the family with which they
grew. He was extremely proud of his three sons and the great men that they
became with a little help from his caring daughter-in laws. Terry & Jeanie,
Ted & Janice and Kenny & Linda. Bob always bragged about his wonderful
six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Bob was a US Navy WWII veteran
serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. When he came home from the war
Bob found many jobs and hobbies to keep him busy. He built several race cars
for various legends from the Ozark Racing era. In 2007 he was inducted into the
Ozarks Area Racers where his brother Frankie was inducted prior. He was an Iron
Worker for several years and helped build Springfield. *If you ever had the
pleasure of riding with Bob down Kansas Expressway he would proudly say "I
built that" as you passed under the crosswalk bridge.
He eventually retired from BN
Railroad and then proceeded to build Street Rods for fun, traveling with
Sparkie and their 5th wheel, maintaining his large ever producing garden and
visiting with family and friends.
Bobs relationship with God and
his church were a top priority for him. He was a lifetime member of the First
Church of God which he proudly attended with his family and sisters; June Rice,
Lou Mentzer and Jeri Fugitt. He participated in usher duties, maintenance of
the building and was a coach for the softball team!
Bob was blessed and loved by
many.
