In Loving Memory of

Alex F. "Junior" Marra, Jr.

October 16th, 1936 - August 12th, 2024

Obituary

Alex F. "Junior" Marra, Jr., of Uniontown, passed away on Monday, August 12th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 16, 1936, in Uniontown, the son of Alex and Lucia Marra. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise; his sisters, Grace, Marguerite, and Mary-Gloria; and his brothers, Joe and John.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalie; his twin brother, Tony Marra, and wife, Patty; his son, Alex "Buddy" Marra and wife, Colleen; and his precious grandchildren, Santino and Mareesa.

Alex was a devoted member of St. Therese Church, where he rarely missed a service and formed many lifelong bonds while practicing his faith.

Alex worked at U.S. Steel, Fayette Housing, and Marra's Mountaineer Sports Shop, his son's store. He enjoyed talking with customers and sharing stories and knowledge while working at the shop. He will be missed greatly throughout the store.
He was a proud graduate of Uniontown High School, where he excelled in track and baseball, with baseball being his greatest passion.

He began playing in the Fayette County Baseball League at the age of 14 and continued until he finally hung up his cleats at the age of 53. During that time, he played as a shortstop and won numerous championships, both as a player and as a player-manager. Some of his favorite baseball memories was playing alongside his son for many years and help his son manage a 3-peat team while his grandson played on the team.

When Alex wasn’t on the baseball field, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was golfing, gardening, or his favorite activities, hunting and fishing with his son and grandson, and spending time with his granddaughter, whether is was keeping score in the dug out or snuggled up on Pap’s chair.

He will be missed by his family and many friends.
