Alycia Knowles Bowers, a cherished resident of Hoover, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on June 20, 1935, in Bessemer, Alabama, Alycia was the beloved daughter of Fred and Winona Knowles and the devoted sister of Lillian Sue Johnson, who preceded her in death.
Alycia's professional life was marked by her long and distinguished career in banking, culminating in her retirement as a respected bank manager. Her commitment to her work and her integrity were evident to all who knew her.
Her personal life was rich with love and devotion. Alycia met her beloved husband, James
"Gerald" Bowers, while attending Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Together, they had a daughter, Lisa Renee Bowers, who was the center of Alycia's world. Alycia's heart also belonged to her precious Pomeranians, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
A long-time member of Oak Mountain Church of Christ, Alycia was known for her steadfast faith and dedication to her church community. Her spirit of kindness and generosity touched many lives.
She is survived by her Daughter Renee Bowers, nephew, Jerry Johnson (Hilda), and niece, Karen Christian, who hold her memory close with love and gratitude.
Services for Alycia will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, with visitation on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Evangelist Robert Hutto will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite Alzheimer's association in Alycia's name, honoring her memory and supporting the fight against this disease. Alycia Bowers will be remembered with great fondness, and her legacy of grace and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
