Obituary

David Ray Dyer, Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was 65 years old. David was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Waymon and Vaude Ozell Dyer. He met his wife, Diana, when they were 14 and they dated for 5 years before marrying in Diana’s parents backyard in 1978. Together, David and Diana shared 46 years of marriage, he was always Diana’s overgrown teddy bear. David worked as a Plant Foreman for Precision Rings for 46 years, he always felt like his work was his second home. David took pride in his quality of work and always strived to put his best foot forward at Precision Rings. David was a member of Emmanuel Church with his wife and family for five years. David enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends, many of whom will remember him as a sort of Superman. David loved softball and played league for many years and retired from softball at 35 years- David won the national tournament and he proudly wore the nicknames “Homerun King” and “Double D” in his league. David’s loving nature and outgoing personality will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.

David is survived by his wife, Diana; his children, Bruce (Tara) Dyer and Stacey (Justin) Dyer-Karnes; his grandchildren, Makayla Dyer, Makenzi Dyer, Bryce J. Dyer, Brooklyn (McKinley Feakes) Dyer-Gonzales, and Isaiah Dyer; 6 bonus grandchildren; his great grandchildren, Axel Ray Dyer, Ayla Renee Vay Feakes, and Paisely Bruce; 4 bonus great grandchildren; his sisters, Lois (Howard) New and Judy Balding; his several nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Rhonda Williams; his Precision Rings Family, Jay and Lee Crannell; his softball family.

David is preceded in death by his parents Wamon and Vaude Ozell Dyer, and in-laws Melvin and Carol Williams; his children, Bryan Wade Dyer and Julia Lynn Dyer; his grandchildren; Nyla Dyer, Bryce M. Dyer; his brother, Jimmy Dyer; his brother-in-laws, Donnie Balding, Donald Williams, Robert Williams.

A visitation will be held for David on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 12:30 pm on August 29, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on August 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm.

The family wants to extend their gratitude to Precision Rings for all their kindness and support over the last several months.
