Elizabeth A. Gaydos

Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth A. Gaydos, 95, of Uniontown, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Mt. St. Macrina Nursing Home.

She was born in Tower Hill, PA on June 3, 1929 to the late Pete and Julia Bellay Adams. 

She married Joseph Gaydos on March 6, 1948, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1990.

Elizabeth was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, where she was part of the Pierogi Pinchers group.

She was previously involved in TOPS, was an excellent cook, and an avid baker that was known for her long nut rolls.  She was especially proud of baking and donating one hundred nut rolls for a church bizarre.  She loved her grandchildren dearly.

Elizabeth is survived by her four children, John Gaydos and wife Bernedette, Ronald Gaydos and wife Patty, Richard Gaydos and wife Karen all of Uniontown, and Donna Bowlen and husband Larry of Hopwood; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Shuppe of Willoughby, OH, and Barbara Kolat of Highland Heights, OH; a brother, Thomas Adams and wife Frances of Wickliffe, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Gaydos; a sister, Mary Sepski; and four brothers, Steve, John, George, and Pete Adams.

Viewing for Elizabeth will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Thursday, August 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The office of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 9 at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 185 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401 with Father Kyprian Wojtiechowski, officiating.

Interment is in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Hopwood.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. St. Macrina Nursing Home and the staff of OSPTA Hospice for the special care given to Elizabeth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 185 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
