Obituary
Eric Herman Dockery, age 50, passed away on October 9, 2024. He was born on May 20, 1974, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was the youngest child of Verna and Verno Dockery. Eric was an indescribably unique individual and will be greatly missed by all who had a chance to know him.
Eric graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1993. He was an associate at Kroger for several years.
Eric loved to fish—even if all he was catching was a 3-inch Bluegill. He also enjoyed playing UNO, shooting basketball, completing word searches, and watching his favorite shows, like Tom and Jerry, Walker Texas Ranger, Smokey and the Bandit, The Dukes of Hazard, and old Westerns. He bowled in the Pin Pals Bowling League for over 20 years.
Eric didn’t know how to be anything but himself. He never lost his childlike spirit. He was curious, unfailingly honest, and a bit ornery. Like any younger brother, he loved spending time with (and occasionally antagonizing) his older siblings. He had a 1000-watt smile that never shined brighter than when he was up to no good.
Eric is survived by two older brothers Keith and Steve Dockery; an older sister Yvonne Moore; 3 half-sisters; his uncle Jerry Dockery; his best friend Dave Bunton; many nieces and nephews; and many other close friends and family members. His loving parents Verna and Verno Dockery, his grandparents Deshie and Herman Dockery, and his half-brother preceded him in death.
