Obituary
Ethel Mae (Davis) Soroko, 93, of Indianapolis died Tuesday, September 2, 2024, at Greenwood Village South Assisted Living in Greenwood, IN.
Ethel was born October 26, 1930 in Rush County Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Ligonal Wellington Davis Sr. and Nora Ethel (Parks) Davis.
Ethel graduated from Waldron High School class of 1948. She then moved from the family farm in St. Paul to Indianapolis where she attended Central Business College.
Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary for Central Supply Co. in Indianapolis. There, she met John Mitchell Soroko and they married Dec. 12, 1970. Sadly, he preceded her in death in 2008.
Ethel also worked at McClain Matthews Real Estate Agency as a secretary and G.V. Aikman Company as an estimator. Ethel loved her work and was a dedicated employee.
Ethel and John resided in Wanamaker, IN until 2000 and then moved to Indianapolis to be closer to their daughter, Shelly King and husband Christopher King. She also lived in Cincinnati from 2019-2022 and in New Jersey from 2022-2023.
Ethel has two granddaughters, Amanda King (21) and Jessica King (17) as well as two step children, John D. Soroko (wife Tanya) and Sue Harrison (Husband, Dan). She also has two step-granddaughters, Michelle Amt and the late Sonya (Amt) Cordova. She is preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters: Harold Davis of Rushville, Helen Wasson of Greensburg, John Davis of Greensburg, Mable Mount of Greensburg, Norma Massman of Portland Oregan, Ligonal Davis Jr. of Shelbyville, and Wilbur Davis of Greensburg.
Ethel and John have been longtime members of the Southport Baptist Church, attending almost every Sunday. They were members of several church boards and loved their Sunday School class, attending many church events, activities and outings.
A visitation for Ethel will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Monday September 9, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be at Forest Lawn on September 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The entombment will follow at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
