Obituary
Eugene Frank Henry passed from this Earth to Heaven on September 9, 2024. The visitation to honor his life will be held on September 11, 2024. Pastor Brad Mullinax will officiate. He fought an exceptionally good fight and kept unending faith knowing his true home awaited him with Jesus.
Gene was the only child of Odes Frank Henry and Susie Henry. He was born on May 31, 1953. He spent his entire life learning every skill from his father. Together there was nothing they could not do. His father was his hero. He devoted his life to caring for his Mother after his father’s passing. Gene retired from the Gadsden Fire Department. He made lawn care his second career where many families depended on him for this service and in this he became a loyal and trusted friend to many.
Gene graduated from Gadsden High School in 1971 and attended GSCC. He was a member of James Memorial Baptist Church.
Gene leaves behind his wife, Donna, the love of his life of over 20 years; his only child, Emily Elise Williamson (Emery), who was the true apple of his eye. There was nothing he would not do for her. He shared his unending love and affection with his other daughter, Amy Wortz (Curtis); He was blessed with his only grandchild, Drake Wortz. He leaves behind cousins Carol Womack and Libby Mizell; brother in laws, Jimmy, Bill, and Eric Jones, and best friends Charles Woodward, Chuck Pruitt, Howard Stakely, and Betty Jane Reaves.
He was blessed to have the love and care of close family friends, the Conklins and Lowreys. A special thanks to the UAB medical team and Compasus Hospice Care. Pallbearers :Curtis Wortz, Jimmy Jones, Charles Woodward, Todd Conklin, Chris Herod, and Randy Wortz
Honorary Pallbearers :Chuck Pruitt and Howard Stakely
Gene was always working at something and never with an idle moment in time. Therefore, we are reminded of the scripture at 1 Thessalonians 1:3 that says “we continually remember before our God and Father, your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” ---May we live closer to the heart of Jesus so that we will be assured of seeing Gene again.
