Obituary
JR Fannin passed peacefully into God’s arms Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home. JR was born December 30, 1945 in Carthage, Indiana to Homer and Lydia Fannin.
Attended Center High School where he was a member of the basketball team. Upon graduation in 1964 JR married the love of his life, Jennie L. Jones, and they were married for 60 years. JR went to work at Chevrolet Muncie right out of high school, working there until moving to Jones Auto Body and Service Center full time in 1972. In 1982 JR purchased Jones Auto Body and Service Center from his father in-law Bill D. Jones and operated it until stepping back the last couple of years. JR never met a stranger and would help anyone that he could. JR loved his family like no other and the sun rose and set on his granddaughter, Rylee Huffman. JR was active in church, occasionally singing solo during services. JR loved cars and in his younger years raced at local tracks. JR had a passion for sports, never missing a Cincinnati Reds game as well as taking care of he and Jennie’s property including the horses that Jennie showed.
JR was proceeded in passing by his parents, Homer Fannin Sr. and Lydia Fannin. One sibling, Harry Fannin, and a daughter, Melissa Fannin. JR is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 60 years, Jennie L. Fannin, daughter, Michelle FanninParkison, (husband Pete), Granddaughter, Rylee Huffman of Cicero, (fiance’ Bailey Gruwell), Lauren Parkison Maryville TN, (husband Brendan), Nikolas Parkison Noblesville, (wife Becca), and Cley Parkison, US Army, Fort Drum NY. Brothers, Kenny Fannin Parker City, (wife Linda), Cary Fannin Selma, (wife Deb), Mike Fannin, (wife Marsha). JR is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved like his own.

Family and friends may call at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N St. Rd. 3, Muncie IN 47303, on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
