Obituary
Mr. James Kenneth “Ken” Scheil of Beech Grove, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 98. Ken was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Frank W. and Maude O. (Hole) Scheil.
A proud alumnus of Ben Davis High School, Ken continued his education at Purdue University, where he earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. His academic and professional pursuits were interrupted by his commendable service in the United States Army, during which he honorably served his country. Following his military service, Ken devoted his career to Bridgeport Brass, where he worked for many years until his retirement, never serving any other company.
Ken was a devoted member of Southport Presbyterian Church, where he once served as an Elder. He took great pride in maintaining his yard, was an avid reader, and cherished moments spent at Panera Bread with his beloved wife. Ken was also a devoted fan of both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Purdue Boilermakers.
Ken’s legacy is carried on by his three sons: Stan (Anne) Scheil, David (Sandra) Scheil and Jay (Betty) Scheil. He was a cherished grandfather to Andrew, John, Madalyn, Parker, Abigail, and Gabrielle Scheil, and a great-grandfather to Noah and Mason Scheil. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in passing by his wife, Charline Rhea (Tyner) Scheil, as well as by a brother, William (Bill) and a sister, Alice.
