Obituary
After a two year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Janice Marie Thomas, 81, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jan was born August 25, 1942 to Floyd and Evalyn (Abrams) Edwards. Jan graduated from Whiteland High School in 1960 and married Stephen Thomas, March 2, 1963. Jan was employed at the University of Indianapolis from 1981-2017 when she retired after 36 years of service. She was the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Accreditation. She was a long-time member of University Heights United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Parish Care committee and visited shut-ins.
Jan is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Stephen; her son, Perry (Debbie) of Summerville, SC; her daughter, Amanda Slauter; her grandchildren, Lauren Thomas (Cady Czolgosz) of Grand Rapids, MI, Tyler Thomas (Marisa Salice) of Farmington Hills, MI, Madison (Ethan Olnick), Morgan and Max Slauter of Indianapolis, IN.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Russell and Gertrude Thomas and her younger sister, Patricia Gossett.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at University Heights United Methodist Church, 4002 Otterbein Avenue, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Indianapolis, The Hottell Family Endowed Scholarship.
