John Thomas Parker

Obituary

John “Tom” Thomas Parker, Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was 88 years old. John was born in New Richmond, OH to his parents Dewey and Bertha Parker. John married his wife, Shirley, on June 17, 1975, and they shared 49 years of marriage together. John answered the call of this nation by enlisting into the United States Marines. He became a Staff Sergeant and loyally served two terms in the Vietnam War. After his period of faithful service, John was honorably discharged.  
John was a member of the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene with his wife for several decades. John enjoyed spending his time working and providing for his family. He was fiercely independent and had a strong-willed personality that will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind. 
John is survived by his wife, Shirley Parker; his 4 children; his several grandchildren: even more great grandchildren; his 2 brothers; his sister. 
John is preceded in death by his parents; his 2 children. 
A visitation for John will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 am to 12:30 am. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 12:30 pm. Military Honors and entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00pm
