Obituary

Ms. Jo Ann Sloan, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, November 11, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on July 6, 1955, Jo Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Warner Ray and Mildred Elizabeth (Whittemore) Sloan.
Jo Ann’s roots were firmly planted in Indianapolis, where she attended Emmerich Manual High School. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident in her long-standing career with American Cleaners, later known as Morgan Laundry Services. Over the span of over 40 years, Jo Ann’s commitment and service left an indelible mark on her colleagues and clients alike, until her retirement in 2020.
Faith played a central role in Jo Ann’s life, and she was a devoted member of the General Baptist church. She found joy and purpose in her work, but she also cherished life’s simpler pleasures. Jo Ann had a passion for gardening, spending many peaceful hours tending to her yard. She delighted in reading and experimenting with recipes, transforming them into mouthwatering dishes that brought smiles to those around her. Holiday seasons were particularly special to Jo Ann, and she loved shopping trips with her sister, creating memories that her family will forever treasure.
Jo Ann is survived by her devoted siblings, Jerry (Margie) Sloan, Gene Sloan and Sharon (Roland, Jr) Thompson, who will miss her deeply. Her legacy also lives on in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jo Ann is reunited in rest with her parents and her three brothers, Donald Sloan, Larry Sloan, and Gary Sloan, who preceded her in passing.
Jo Ann Sloan’s warmth, kindness, and steadfast presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends as they reflect on the rich life she lived and the love she gave so freely.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the services.
