Obituary
Kenneth R. Burell, age 78 of Gadsden, AL passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was a native of Anniston, AL. and graduated from Winterboro High School in 1963 where he lettered in football and basketball. Later in life he retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was an avid golfer and he managed Rivertrace Golf Course. After the closure of the Rivertrace he worked at Twin Bridges Golf Course. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching Alabama Football. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending church.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Bill and Bertha Burell; sister, Mavis Kelley; brother, Jimmy Burell.
Survivors include his children, Kenny Burell (Stacey), Missy Jackson (Glenn); grandchildren, Austin Hubbard (Lyndsie), Ashlyn McCormick (Jon), Madison Sheffield (Trent) and Jackson Burell; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Baylor Hubbard, Jonah and Madelyn McCormick; sister-in-law, Beverly Burell; several nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Burell, Trent Sheffield, Jason Willingham, Glenn Jackson, Austin Hubbard and Jon McCormick.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cherokee Health and Rehab and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alabama.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
