Obituary
Mike Junior Phelps, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was 56 years old. Mike was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents, Emmit and Marilyn Phelps.
Mike was a bus driver for Indianapolis Public Schools for 15 years. After his time there, Mike worked for Big Kahuna's Pizza for 5 years. Later, Mike worked as a laborer for Builders First Source for 20 years. Mike was a member of Drexel Garden Apostolic Tabernacle for many years. During his time at the Tabernacle, Mike was a Reverend that would preach services and drive the church bus for 25 years. Mike enjoyed roller skating; his days at USA Roller Rink allowed him to hone his skating skills. Eventually, the roller rink led him into another passion, DJing. Mike was known as DJ Looney Tunes and enjoyed using his skills at events and parties for family and friends. Mike was a people-person who made a point to always think of others before himself. He loved his stepchildren as his own and was proud to be a part of his immediate family. Mike will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Mike is survived by his stepchildren, Maggie Fine and Sam Blundell; his brother and lifelong friend, Bruce Pettis; his siblings, Tari McClure, Debbie (Rick) Leppert, Rickey (Nancy) Phelps, and Timothy Phelps; his several nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation for Mike will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 11:00 am.
