Obituary

Naomi Ruth Baskerville, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024. She was 90 years old. Ruth was born in Odon, IN to her parents Victor and Dora Mae McNabb. She graduated from Washington High School. Ruth married her first husband, Leroy Baker, in 1952 and they shared 31 years of marriage together until Leroy passed away in 1983. Ruth went on to marry her second husband, Sam Baskerville and they shared 37 years of marriage together until Sam passed away in 2020. 
Ruth worked as a waitress for KeyWest Shrimp House, a high-end restaurant, for 25 years; during her time there she built several meaningful friendships and was often invited to spend time with her coworkers on her bosses' yachts. After leaving KeyWest Shrimp House, Ruth worked for a filing business that ultimately filled paperwork for Eli Lilly. Ruth was a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church; she was known to crochet and quilt for the church’s charity events. Ruth also enjoyed crocheting and quilting for herself, family and friends. In her younger years, Ruth loved partaking in outdoor activities like camping, hiking and water skiing. She had many opportunities to travel with her husband, Leroy, to Florida. She enjoyed travelling to Louisiana with her husband Sam. Ruth was known to enjoy playing Mahjong on the computer and watching NASCAR races and football games in her spare time. Ruth will be remembered for her delicious cooking, underlying strength, and outspoken nature. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.  
Ruth is survived by her children. Michael (Patty) Baker, and Mendy (George) Chapman; her grandchildren, Butch Baker, Craig (Lindi) Hiner, Toni (Brandon) Orr, Courtney (Keith) Berry, Alisha Baker, Brie Barber, and Zach Barber; her great grandchildren, Brandon, Billy, Taylor, Jeremiah, Ethan, Nevaeh, Zoe, Samuel, Braxton, and Bentley; her great great grandchildren, Bea, Thaddeous, Braxton, Ameilia “Susie”, and Kinsley; her siblings, Kathy Jaymes and Victor (Becky) McNabb; her several nieces and nephews. 
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Baker; her husband, Sam Baskerville; her daughter, Robin Coffey; her grandchildren, Michael Collins; her siblings, Barbara, Nancy, Jane, and David; her beloved dog, Chico. 
A visitation for Ruth will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 11:00 am to12:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 12:30 pm. Entombment will immediately follow at 1:30 pm.
