Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis Diane Smith, lovingly known as Diane, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 53. Born September 6, 1971, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Diane was the beloved daughter of the late Billy Ray and Thelma Irene (Thompson) Moore.
Diane grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Decatur High School in 1988. Afterward, she became the proud owner of a home cleaning business, which she ran successfully for many years. She was known for her dedication to her work and the care she showed to her clients. Diane was also a loving caregiver to her parents and to anyone else who needed her.
Diane was a vibrant soul, full of life and love for adventure. She found joy in visiting the casino, taking spontaneous road trips, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. Diane cherished every moment she could spend with family and adored her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.
She is survived by her two sons, Nathan (Ashley) Jancowskis and Matthew Moore, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Ellie, Frankie, Wade, and Emma. Diane is also survived by her siblings: Zetta Jones (Andy), Billie Love – Moore (Tim), Billy Moore, and Brenda Couch (Eric), along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Moore.
Diane’s family has chosen to forgo traditional services at this time. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, where she will be remembered for her generosity, adventurous spirit, and deep love for her family.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the American Cancer Society.
