Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Scott Meadows, age 62, who left us too soon on August 27, 2024 in a tragic car accident in his hometown of Muncie, Indiana. He was born and raised in Muncie, and resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan for several years before returning back to Indiana. Rich was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
Rich was the cherished son of Richard K. Meadows and Gloria (Brandon) Meadows. He attended Delta High School, where he began to cultivate the many skills and talents that would define his life. Throughout his career, Rich was a certified cad welder, a general contractor, and a skilled woodworker. His professional life was a testament to his remarkable versatility and dedication.
To say that Rich was a jack of all trades would be an understatement. There was no task or obstacle that he wasn’t willing to take on, no problem too complex for his skilled hands and sharp mind. Whether he was collecting and restoring vehicles, building and remodeling homes, or shooting pool, Rich approached everything with enthusiasm and determination. His mornings often began with breakfast surrounded by his large network of friends, where his laughter and stories brought joy to many.
Rich had several passions, the greatest of which was his family and his faith in God. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard K. Meadows; his siblings, Julia Stewart and Joey Meadows; and his grandparents; Harold and Hester Brandon. Despite these profound losses, Rich remained a pillar of strength and love for those who survived him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in the hearts of his children, Brandi Meadows and Kaleb Meadows, who were his pride and joy. His memory will also be carried on by his precious grandchildren; Kenna Pratt, 9 years old, and Aubrionna Pratt, 7 years old - who brought immense light into his life. Rich is also survived by his mother, Gloria Brandon Meadows, and his brother, Dodd Meadows, and Dodd's partner Natalie Lacy. His extended family, including many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins, will continue to remember the warmth and kindness he brought into their lives.
Rich was not only a family man but also deeply rooted in his community. His talents and generosity touched many lives, and his absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for family and friends will continue to inspire us all.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Rich's life will be held at the Gardens of Memory on September 5, 2024: Visitation will take place from 4 PM to 7 PM, followed by the funeral service at 7 PM. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Rich's spirit are invited to attend and share in the memories of a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help assist with final arrangements can be made to Brandi Meadows. There is a memorial account that has been created for his children to help them through this tragedy.
Rich’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of a generous spirit. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his extraordinary ability to make the world around him a better place. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
Rich’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Rich. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
