Obituary

Mr. Robert Lee Garbart, 79, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Robert was born in Uniontown on March 16, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Garbart; his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Glisan Garbart; his in-laws, Edwin and Retha Ridley; his brother, Kenneth Garbart; and his brother-in-law, Lloyd Bolinger.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Ridley Garbart; daughter, Donna; grandchildren, Lizabeth and Noah; sister, Kathryn Bolinger; brother, John (Christina) Garbart; sister-in-law, Thelma Garbart, sister-in-law, Cindy Ridley, EdD; and brother-in-law, Timothy (Kathy) Ridley; and several nieces and nephews and their children.

Bob graduated from North Union High School and West Virginia University, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering.  Prior to retirement, Bob was the owner of Garbart Engineering Company and Garbart Consulting Services. 

Bob was a very active 50+ year member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, serving on and chairing numerous committees over the years.  He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, where he had held several state offices and was a retired member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Viewing for Robert will be at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, on Thursday, August 22 from 2 to 8 PM.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 23 at 11 AM with Pastor Ryan Washabaugh officiating from the Calvary United Methodist Church of Uniontown.

Inurnment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 34 Clarke Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401 or to the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), Mathcounts Program, 908 North 2nd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17108 in Bob’s memory.
