Obituary
Rose Mae Doughty, 96, New Palestine, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, September 15, 2024. She was born October 30, 1927 in Middleburg, Kentucky, one of 13 children born to the late Luther and Rose Lee (Lucas) Earles.
At the age of 14, Rose moved to Indianapolis with her family, where she graduated from Emmerich Manual High School.
Rose was a hardworking and dedicated professional. Alongside her husband, she co-owned Advance Plating Company, where she served as Secretary for many years. After her time there, she continued her career with an additional eight years at Indiana National Bank.
In her leisure time, Rose enjoyed a variety of activities. She was an avid bowler and golfer and spent countless hours playing cards, particularly Euchre and Uno. She also had a love for reading, especially Stephen King novels, and enjoyed watching old television shows. Rose shared a passion for woodworking with her husband, and together they worked on various projects. She was also an incredibly talented seamstress, creating her own clothes, upholstering furniture and sewing drapes. Above all, Rose cherished her family and loved spending time with them, often engaging in board games and laughter-filled gatherings. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, her love for his music was well-known among family and friends.
Rose is survived by her son, Mike (Sherry) Noel; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Raymond Noel; her second husband, Richard Gerald Doughty, to whom she was married for 56 years, as well as her sons, Van Keith Noel and Ronnie William Doughty; a grandson Matthew Bruce; great-granddaughter Breonna Gwenn and her 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Rose Mae Doughty will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Noel, Michael Noel, Jr., Scott Noel, Zachary Noel, Buddy Vaux and Paul Coultas.
