Obituary

Sallie Rebekah Carr, of Ormond Beach, FL, sadly passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the age of 56. She was fondly known as Rebekah or "Bekah" to those close to her. Rebekah was born on March 20, 1968, in Greenville, MS, to the late Edmund K. and Grace M. Metcalfe. She lived in the Ormond Beach area for 52 years.

Rebekah graduated from Daytona Beach Community College with a Nursing Degree. Outside of her career, Rebekah enjoyed the outdoors and everything that goes along with it. She acquired a love for hunting and fishing at an early age and spent her youth sharing in these favorite pastimes with her father and siblings. She carried on her passion into her adult life with her husband of 35 years and onto their children. Rebekah also had a love for horses. In her teen years she participated and excelled in equestrian show jumping competitions, where she received many awards for her achievements. She continued on to barrel racing competitions as an adult, where she was just as astounding. She enjoyed traveling and spending all the time she could soaking up the sun on the water and spending hunting seasons at the camp and in the woods.

Rebekah loved life and being surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed hosting cookouts and get togethers with those close to her and welcomed all with open arms. Her laugh and smile were contagious to everyone that was fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Edmund K. and Grace M. Metcalfe, brother Edmund K. Metcalfe, III, sister Sharon Hunter, brother WO Slayton, and brother James B. Stewart. Rebekah is survived by her husband Walter Carr of Ormond Beach, FL; sons Colton (Sarah) Carr of St. Augustine, FL and Hunter Carr of Bunnell, FL; sister Shelia Gant of Vancleave, MS and brother George (Tammy) Stewart of Greenville, MS. Rebekah was expecting her first grandson Sawyer Tucker Carr in October, who she already loved tremendously. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
